"If there's no partiality, you cannot be governor yourself," Mr. Tinubu tells Mr. Fashola.
The Lagos State governor, Babatunde Fashola, got a rude shock from his principal and predecessor, Bola Tinubu, Wednesday after he tried to make a case for disgruntled party members.
Mr. Fashola, one of the speakers at the 4th annual Bola Tinubu Colloquium, an event organized to mark the former Lagos State governor's 60th birthday; said that he had been asked by the lower cadre members of the party to prevail on the celebrant to dispense "justice equally" to all members.
Mr. Tinubu refused
"If there's no partiality, you cannot be governor yourself," he told Mr. Fashola, adding that he had not regretted choosing him as governor.
"Ask them not to give me the task, that I'll not be able to deliver," said Mr. Tinubu.
"What I'd done consistently in the past, why would I want to change at 60?
"I've succeeded with that behaviour and sorry I'll not deviate from it," he added.
Earlier, the chairman of the occasion, Emeka Anyaoku, had called on Nigeria to return to true federalism if it must make progress.
"I do believe that a true, rather than our current unitarist federalism, will better promote peace, stability, and development in Nigeria," said Mr. Anyaoku, a former Secretary-General of the Commonwealth.
"There can be no doubt that Nigeria was making progress in national development in the early years of its independence when it practiced true federalism of four regions with more extensive powers deployed from the centre to the regions.
"Those were the days of the significant export of groundnuts, hides and skins, and the tin ore from the North; of cocoa from the West; of rubber from the Mid-West; and palm produce and coal from the East of Nigeria," said Mr. Anyaoku.
Political heavyweights meet
The colloquium, which held under a heavy police presence at the Eko Hotel and Suites, was a gathering of political heavyweights across the country.
Adams Oshiomhole and Lucky Igbinedion, present and former Edo State governors; Diepreye Alamieseigha, former Bayelsa State governor; Rauf Aregbesola, Osun State governor; Mu'azu Babangida Aliyu, Niger State governor; Aminu Tambuwal, Speaker of the House of Representatives.
A bent Maitama Sule, a presidential candidate in the 1979 election, stepped into the venue about 30 minutes late and the praise singers, stationed at the entrance, rolled out their drums.
The octogenarian struggled to shuffle a few feet as he was helped up the three-step staircase that led into the venue.
Mr. Tinubu, arrived over an hour late and proceeded to give a high five to Mr. Igbinedion and other top politicians at the event.
Mr. Anyaoku noted that he accepted to honour the invitation "because of what the man in whose honour it is organized represents."

"Bola Tinubu was of an effective advocate and a dedicated activist for the return of democracy and restitution of Chief M.K.O Abiola's presidential election in Nigeria," said Mr. Anyaoku, who arrived 15 minutes before the 3 p.m scheduled time of the event.
Lagos' battles
With Ade Ipaye, the Attorney-General of Lagos State; and Abike Dabiri-Erewa, a member of the House of Representatives; introducing the speakers for the day; the colloquium delved into graphic presentations of some landmark achievements in the state from 1997 till date.
"Hardly anybody gave us a chance, but on reflections, it was an extremely daunting challenge," said Yemi Cardoso, Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget during Mr. Tinubu's administration.
In his presentation 'Public Finance in an Emerging Megapolis,' Wale Edun, a former Commissioner for Finance, noted how the state grew its internally generated revenue from N600 million in 1999 to more than N15 billion in 2011.
Leke Pitan, a Commissioner during the celebrant's administration, spoke at length on the reforms in the education and health sector since 1999; from provision of free anti malaria and ante natal drugs to building "mega" schools before it was cut short by the audience applauding him in mid speech.
Yemi Osinbajo reminisced about his first meeting with Mr. Tinubu in April 1999 and the state's various litigation with the federal government.
"The creation of the 37 local government councils in 2002 was probably the defining moment in the struggle for true federalism," said Prof. Osinbajo, a former Attorney-General of Lagos State.
Rauf Aregbesola, the Osun State governor, who periodically threw the audience into fits of laughter while speaking on 'Politics: The People First' called on the Action Congress of Nigeria to "throw out" whoever is not ready for the task ahead.
"Lagos is gradually turning out to be that city that we are proud of but it was a lot of effort...
"I would not want to elaborate because when I elaborate, I get myself overworked.
"Our new task is reconstruction of our reclaimed territory," said Mr. Aregbesola.
Mr. Fashola, while delivering the last speech for the evening, said that the state would enforce the legislation to collect taxes.
"How can 2.5 million people be paying taxes in a state of over 20 million people? That is not sustainable," said Mr. Fashola.
The occasion also witnessed the presentation of the book 'Asiwaju: Leadership in Troubled Times'.
About N50 million cash was realized from the sale of the book at the event, with most of the guest preferring to disclose their donations privately.
The organizers said that the proceeds from the sales would be channeled into a fund, the Bola Tinubu Institute for Good Governance.

Fear of Boko Haram: Redeemed Church to Install CCTV on all their parishes

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Adeboye, has ordered that all Redeemed Church Parishes across the country should install the Close Circuit TV Monitors, in order forestall any form of attacks on the church and its members. Apart from the CCTV installation, which has taken effect in some parishes, some of the parishes now have security men in mufti parading the grounds of the church, staying vigilant, and monitoring everything that goes on outside, in case of suspected movement of persons or vehicles.

All this is because some churches in Lagos were advised by the State Secret Service to be more watchful, as suicide bombers target churches with a large congregation.

British Government Threaten To Deal With Nigeria

The British government have issued a stern warning to Nigeria that it would take retaliatory steps against its airlines, if the federal government bans UK based carriers over fare disparity.

Over the weekend, Nigeria’s Aviation Minister, Princess Stella Oduah, gave all foreign airlines a 30-day ultimatum to adjust its fares to reflect equity with their prevailing fares on the West Coast or face ban from operating in the country.

Reacting to the ultimatum, Britain said banning private airlines from operating in Nigeria would amount to a “heavy-handed action that would be catastrophic.”

According to a British High Commission spokesman;

“If the ban would cause potential foreign investors to question whether they want to put their money in Nigeria and have a long-term and damaging effect on Nigeria’s growth.

The Prime Minister and President Goodluck Jonathan signed a joint communique last year pledging to double bilateral trade. Action against BA and Virgin would damage that strategic aim.”

Reacting to the statement, Princess Oduah said;

“We are seriously concerned and worried by the reluctance to restore parity within the region by the foreign airlines. They have been using all kinds of delay tactics; this is unacceptable and will no longer be tolerated. We will resolve this issue once and for all.”

This is a simple case of demand and supply. If demand keeps increasing, prices will continue to go up. Let Nigerians boycott the airlines and fly the indigenous airlines and they will lower their prices to be competitive.

It is not a good business practice to coerce a service provider to charge a particular price for their services.

North Most Produce President In 2015 Or Nigeria Will Divide - Atiku's Associate

Alhaji Lawal Kaita, close ally of former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, who promised Nigerians in October 2010 that the North would make the country ungovernable for President Jonathan if he won the 2011 election, is again spitting fire.

This time around he is insisting that a Northerner must emerge as President of the country by 2015 or there would be no Nigeria any more.

“We hear rumours all over that Jonathan is planning to contest in 2015. Well, the North is going to be prepared if the country remains one. That is, if the country remains one, we are going to fight for it. If not, everybody can go his way,” he said in an interview in Katsina.

Kaita, who described the emergence of the Bamanga Tukur-led NWC of the party as a grand ploy by President Goodluck Jonathan to contest the 2015 presidential race, said the North would ensure he never succeeds.

It would be recalled that Alhaji Kaita had said in October 2010 that "The North is determined, if that happens, to make the country ungovernable for President Jonathan or any other Southerner who finds his way to the seat of power on the platform of the PDP against the principle of the party’s zoning policy".

Kaita had, at that time, warned that the North should not be blamed for the calamity that will befall the country, if Jonathan emerges President.

Woman Sacrifices Her Only Daughter to River Goddess Awube for More Children

Idenyi Abbah, a middle aged woman residing at Anumajogwu, in Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State has confessed to killing her 8-year-old daughter, Enyanwu, because she wanted more children.
Currently held at the Ukwo Police Station in Benue State, Abbah, who had one child for her husband, said she became envious when he married a second wife in a quest for more children. She then consulted a juju priest at Ikem in Anambra State, who allegedly asked her to sacrifice her only daughter to the Awube goddess.
“I have been to every part of the country, searching for pastors and native doctors that could help me out of this problem, but have been told almost the same story, that my only daughter was ‘ogbanje’ (witch) and had blocked my womb,” she said. “I had tried to avoid the solution I got from one native doctor at Ikem; until my husband opted for another wife. This move had forced me to do the wish of the gods by killing Enyanwu.”
At the venue of the sacrifice, near the Awube River, around midnight, the said juju priest allegedly arranged for some young men who gang-raped Enyanwu before sacrificing her to the said goddess, while her mother watched.
A resident of the area, who gave his name as Okpe, claimed to have witnessed the murder from a hideout while he was hunting at night; adding that he was powerless to stop the killing because the young men were armed. “They put their knives through her neck after the mother had said some incantation,” he said. “They also raped her before that.”
Okpe said he fled the scene and reported the matter to the village head, who then alerted the police. When police officers and residents of the community stormed the scene of the murder, nobody was found and a search revealed Enyanwu’s mutilated corpse in a shallow grave near the river.
Police authorities in the state say a manhunt has been launched for the murderers and that Abbah will soon be charged to court.

PORSCHE TARGETS NIGERIA'S POLITICIANS

(Reuters) – Nigeria’s super rich are no strangers to conspicuous consumption, and there’s no better way to flaunt your wealth than by buying a brand new European sports car.

German carmaker Porsche officially opened a new car dealership on Friday in the heart of Lagos’ wealthiest district, Victoria Island, a place with one of the world’s highest concentrations of millionaires.

There are already dealerships specialising in Aston Martin and Lamborghini, but Porsche hopes to capitalise on a promise of providing sturdier vehicles that can cope with Nigeria’s rough roads. Its presence is being seen as a vote of confidence in the West African nation’s fast-growing economy.

Porsche also plans to set up an operation in the capital Abuja, where roads are newly built – a better market for the 911 sports model – and where politicians are amongst the world’s most highly paid.

“The African continent, and in particular Nigeria, is of growing importance to us at Porsche,” the company’s Middle East and Africa head George Wills said, unveiling the new 911 model.

High-end goods producers are increasingly targeting sub-Saharan Africa, as its economic growth starts to dwarf other continents and rich Western countries face a slowdown.

Nigeria, Africa’s second biggest economy, grew 7.68 percent in the last quarter of 2011, one of the fastest in the world.

Two of Africa’s top five richest men are Nigerian.

“We’re quite confident the numbers will be strong,” Wills told Reuters in front of the new 911 sports car, after a Porsche official revved its engine for flashing cameras.

“It’s difficult to put a finite number on it, but certainly enough to give a return on this investment,” he added.

Porsche Nigeria general manager Julian Hardy estimates 200 Nigerians own Porsches – the dealership had been running prior to the official launch since July and sold an undisclosed number, and rich Nigerians have been importing them for decades.

THE RICHER RICH

At a party to celebrate Porsche’s launch, Nigerians in sharp suits and cocktail dresses drank martinis and danced around the 911 display model to live music.

“You can drive around Lagos … then take your car to the race track and become a beast and go wild,” said Emmanuel Ngala, an IT consultant who owns a Cayenne 4×4 and is buying a 911.

The firm’s sales target for 2012 is 100 cars, and it hopes to hit a stable sales rate of around 300 a year, compared with 800 in South Africa. Average prices currently range between 21 million naira ($133,000) to 30 million naira ($190,000).

The oil wealth of Africa’s biggest producer has made multi-millionaires of its elite in the past few decades, even while absolute poverty has increased to 60 percent of the population.

Lagos embraces some of Africa’s most expensive real estate alongside some of its most crowded slums. On one street, a Hummer drives past a tramp sifting through a dustbin.

The car park at the Porsche show rooms has several models.

“It’s a nice car,” said employee Mohammed Ibrahim, as he hosed down a chrome coloured Cayenne and shined it to a sparkle with a cloth. On his 20,000 naira a month salary it would take him 125 years to afford one if he didn’t buy anything else.

“God might give me a car like this one day. He can do that, if he wants to. He can do anything,” he said, grinning.

BIG MEN AND MOTORS

Sandwiched between the lagoon that led Portuguese sailors to name this city ‘Lagos’ and the Atlantic, Victoria Island is a place of fund managers in fine woollen suits and oil oligarchs.

The faces of glamorous women smile from billboards advertising mobile phones. Luxury 4x4s are everywhere.

But it has scant electricity, most roads are sandy, potholed and patrolled by beggars in rags. Poor drainage means they flood – in the rainy season, fishermen sometimes traverse them by canoe, raising doubts about the practicality of sports cars like a 911.

Other luxury brands have however made it big in Nigeria. It is a significant African market for LVMH. Most bars can get you Moet & Chandon champagne or Hennessy brandy, which women sip next to their Louis Vuitton handbags.

Stealing: Court remands 17 yrs SS2 student, grants bail to boyfriend

An Akure Chief Magistrates’ Court, yesterday, ordered that a 17-year-old SSS 2 student be remanded in police custody over alleged stealing said to have been committed with her boyfriend.

The boyfriend, Samuel Fadeyi, 21, a driver, was, however, granted bail by the Chief Magistrate, Mrs Adejoke Adegoroye, in the sum of N50,000 and one surety in like sum.

The two accused persons were arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing brought against them by the police.

The police prosecutor, Sgt Martins Olowofeso, told the court that the two committed the offence on March 13, about 10.20p.m. at 21, Iro Street, Akure, in Akure Magisterial District.

He said that they stole one Nokia X2 mobile phone valued at N20,000 and another Nokia phone valued at N2,000, both belonging to one Segun Samuel.

The offence, the prosecutor said, was contrary to and punishable under section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol. I laws of Ondo State 2006.

The plea of the accused persons was not taken, but they told the court that they understood the charges.

The prosecutor informed the court that he had three people to testify against the accused persons and prayed the court to grant an adjournment to enable him to assemble his witnesses.

Counsel to the accused persons, Mr Abiodun Umoru, did not object, but urged the court to admit his clients to bail on liberal terms.

Ruling on the bail application, the magistrate said that since the parents of the female accused were not in court, she should be remanded in police custody because she is a minor.

She said that her bail application would be considered on March 21, and told the police to make sure that her parents were in court on that day.

While granting bail to Samuel, she ruled that the surety must present an affidavit of means and be resident within the jurisdiction of the court.

She adjourned the case till March 21, for hearing and consideration of bail for the second accused.

My Teacher Raped Me Violently - 9yrs Old Girl Tells Court

A nine-year-old pupil of Sunshine Nursery and Primary School on Friday narrated before a High Court sitting in Ife, Osun State, how she was raped by her teacher, Mr. Francis Ijiwande when she went to urinate behind her classroom.

At the hearing on Friday, the pupil (name withheld) alleged that Teacher Francis had forceful carnal knowledge of her in 2010.

Below is the nine year old girl's sad story

“Teacher Francis was my teacher in primary four. I was in primary five when he raped me. When I was urinating behind the classroom, I saw uncle standing at my front.

“As I was urinating, uncle pushed me down. He removed my pant and threw it away. I shouted for help but no one came to my rescue. Uncle removed his trousers and boxer. He then lay on me and removed his private part and put it inside my private part.

“I felt the pains in my thigh and back when uncle was on me. Uncle did not stay long on me. I also felt the pains after uncle stood up. I managed to stand up and stay with my younger brothers, who were waiting for my father at the front of my school.”

When asked if she told her parents her ordeal, the victim replied, “I did not tell my parents because Uncle (Teacher Francis) threatened to kill me. I only complained of back and thigh pains. My parents gave me Paracetamol, but the pains persisted.”

She explained that her mother discovered the fate that had befallen her four days later when the pains did not subside. “My mother called me in the evening and ordered me to remove my pant. She discovered something like mucus and clotted blood at my private part. My mother shouted and she started crying. My father woke and we all prayed together and we went to sleep.

“The day, my parents took me to a hospital. A doctor conducted a test on me. We later went to a police station where I made statement on what Uncle did to me and he was arrested.

“Two policemen followed me to where Uncle raped me. My parents and Aunty Bisi, the proprietress of the school, also followed us. Aunty Bisi called me aside and told me not to mention Uncle’s name again. She told me the police would kill him and that I would not see him again.”

Testifying before the court, a Professor of Gynecology, Orji Okechukwu, who conducted a test on the victim, confirmed that the pupil was actually raped.

During cross-examination, the teacher claimed he was innocent of the allegations being made by the girl, stressing that he didn't do such.

After listening to both parties, the presiding judge, Justice O. Siyanbola adjourned the matter till April 18, for further hearing

Man Claims To Have The Map Of Heaven

A self-proclaimed prophet from Mandeni, in KwaZulu-Natal, claims he has been to heaven four times, according to a report on Monday.

Sibusiso Mthembu, 64, said there were 11 heavens and he had drawn a map of them, the Sowetan newspaper reported.

Mthembu said he had his first heavenly journey in December 1998. The other three journeys took place in 2004, 2006 and 2008. On his return, he drew a map of heaven and its residents.

“An angel, whom I later realised was Gabriel, who was in his early 20s, appeared at my house and led me by the hand to the Mandeni River where he baptised me and he returned to heaven,” Mthembu told the newspaper.

He said the same angel arrived in 1998 and this time took him along to heaven. Mthembu said he had seen God, Jesus and angels during his journeys.

Boko Haram vows to attack Southern Nigeria – Names Cities to Attack

Security Agencies today uncovered the plot by the militant Islamic sect, Boko Haram, to commence its operations at the southern part of the country.

Source tell us in Abuja on Friday that the sect had pointed at some prominent cities for possible attack. The cities among others are Lagos, Ibadan, Enugu, Onitsha and Warri.

It was gathered that the move to extend its tentacle came due to the constant attack on the sect members in most parts of the North.

Another source revealed that the reasons for for the extension of its operation to the South, was to avoid limiting its campaign to an ethnic affairs.

Another security source revealed that it’s possible that some of the Boko Haram sect members were presently in the some Southern states.

The source revealed thus, “It was not a coincidence that Sokoto, who had been on the wanted list of the police before December 25, was sighted in Lagos.

“His presence in Lagos was not for fun. This is one of the angles security agencies are working on.

“I think the group has noticed that security is not tight in the South and there have not been bombings. They are out to cash in on the laxity.”

The Senate Committee on Police had stated that Sokoto was also seen in Lagos after his escape

The committee chairman, Senator Paulinus Nwagu, while presenting the report of the probe said, “Police intelligence revealed that prior to his arrest on January 14, 2011, Kabiru Sokoto had been on the wanted list of security agencies.

“Sokoto was reported to have been noticed within the vicinity of Snake Island, Lagos, and left Lagos sometime on December 13, 2011 and disappeared from surveillance monitoring until January 11, 2012.

“He was later traced to Abaji in the Federal Capital Territory.

“Police detectives traced him from Abaji to Abuja on the same date and further traced him to Asokoro-Abuja, where he was finally apprehended at about 0240 hours (2.40 am) on January 14, 2012, at the Borno State Governor’s Lodge at Iro Dan Musa Street, Asokoro, and Abuja.”

A security source stated, “Since the heat has been turned on them, they have been moving to Lagos and other cities, where they mix with unsuspecting northerners residing in those cities.”

He said that the sect’s plot to attack the South was aimed at further creating the impression that there was instability in the country.

The source said, “You will observe that activities of the sect are ebbing due to unrelenting efforts of security agencies.

“But Boko Haram is also devising another method. This time around, it is looking at ways of attacking the South.”

On the contrary, Muslim leaders have denied such intention , stating that penetrating into states would almost mean a suicide mission.

Don Jazzy confirms breakup with Dbanj

 

Music producer and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MO’ Hits records, Michael Collins popular know as Don Jazzy on Saturday confirmed reports that he has broken up with award winning singer-songwriter Dbanj.

Don Jazzy who confirmed the breakup via twitter said that he has been away for a while and that some of the rumours making round about him and Dbanj were “sad and true”
“It is with a heavy heart that I announce the end of a long Era and the beginning of a new One,” he tweeted.
The Mo’Hit boss said that despite the departure of his most prized performer, he hope to keep churning out good music to his fans.
“The way forward now is to make sure I keep bringing you guys more of the beautiful music y’all love to dance to,” he said.
He said that the proceeds from his production catalogues will be donated to five Charity Organisations.

Gun running syndicate:Army parades woman and three others

 

The 23 Armoured Brigade, Yola, Adamawa State, has clamped down on a syndicate specializing in gunrunning, and sale of military gear to men of the underworld.

Nancy James and her accomplice, Haliru Jumba, a pastor with Kunini Deeper Life Bible Church in Lau Local Government Area of Taraba State were caught with some cache of arms hidden inside a sack of garri at a military checkpoint in Numan Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

The military says the intercepted cache of arms was heading to Gombe State where one Danjuma Luka, who is now also in police net in Taraba State, was waiting to take delivery of the consignment.
The capture of Mr. Luka by the military followed the arrest of Ms. James, who the military says was making her second delivery of arms, after a previous successfully operation in February.
The brigade spokesperson, Lieutenant Victor Olukoya said the woman, caught with four double-barrel guns and two pistols, would have gotten away but for the vigilance and diligence of his men who affected her arrest, putting their counter-terrorism training to good use.
Mr. Olukoya said the officers subjected the sack of garri in the vehicle to a thorough search which he said led to the discovery of the arms.
“The weapons were hidden in that bag of garri and after searching the sack of garri, the guns were discovered, and the men arrested,” Mr. Olukoya said.
The army spokesperson explained that the pastor arrested in company of the woman “is still only an accomplice” and that the police would be left to ascertain the extent of his involvent in the gunrunning scheme.
Also paraded by the army is a police corporal, Reuben Joel, attached to the anti-terrorism unit of the Nigeria Police Force in Aba, Abia State. He was accused of trafficking military and police uniforms to terrorist cells.
Mr. Olukoya said it was amazing that a serving corporal, attached to the anti-terrorist unit of the police command in Abia State, would be involved the illegal  sale of military uniform in faraway Adamawa State.
The arrest of Mr. Joel by the army followed the arrest of two persons by the military at a checkpoint in Mubi, who were caught with ten uniforms and ten pairs of military boots.
After they were interrogated, the men confessed to taking supply of the military uniforms from Mr. Joel, and that they were taking the consignment to Hong in Adamawa State.
The arrest of the uniform traffickers, the army says, has helped in unraveling incidences of attack on police checkpoints and banks by men clad in military and police uniforms.
“It is obvious that these are the people attacking police checkpoints and banks with regalia of the military and police. It portends that we have desperate people willing to go to any extent to maim innocent lives,” Mr. Olukoya stated.
However, the army has attributed the success of its current operation to a revision of its strategies in combating the increasing waves of attacks by armed groups.
It has therefore appealed to well-meaning Nigerians to cooperate with the military in its determination to rid the country of criminal elements and check the proliferation of arms by submitting themselves to checks at checkpoints.

Nollywood actor Chinedu Ikedieze, popularly known as Aki, will be getting married on Saturday, December 10, 2011, to lovely Ms. Nneoma Nwaijah, a graduate of Enugu State University of Technology (ESUT).


Their traditional engagement comes up November 26, 2011 in Mbano.

Princess Mercy Johnson okojie Is Pregnant

If what we are getting is anything to go by, then, we can confirm to you that Princess Mercy Johnson, who got married to Edo Prince, Odi Okojie in a controversial wedding just a few days over a month now, is pregnant.

Just last Saturday in Abuja, MJ, as she is fondly called, made a rare appearance to the public since getting married. She was a guest at the opening of Chika Ike’s fashion accessory stores, Nancy Fancy. 

At the event, mercy was not the real mercy she was before getting married; it is understandable because of her new status as a married woman and Princess. A person in the know close to MJ informed us that she is heavy. According to our informant, ‘Mercy is pregnant, though she has been trying to keep it away from many people, especially the press, who really want to know and write about it, but i can confirm to you that she is really pregnant, take that from me.

Mercy came into movie prominence after her role in the film, Maid. After then, she has featured in both many Nigerian and Ghanaian movies. She recently got in the news for a long time after a woman named Lovely Okojie alleged her of husband snatching, just before her wedding on August 27. The controversies dragged long that it was almost getting to be the only national news story people are interested in.

At a time, the weeding was almost called off. Some women groups also threatened to disrupt the wedding if Pastor Chris Oyakhilome went ahead to join the couple. Though described as one of the most talked about and expensive weddings, but it is still a union some people are not happy about because of the way she went ahead marrying Prince Odi, who some believed was still legally married to Lovelyn, who bore him two children. For now, MJ is the heartthrob Princess of Prince Odi Okijie.

Muslim Women In Britain Are Willing To "Share Same Husband"

Muslim career women in Britain are choosing to become involved in polygamous relationships because of a lack of suitable men.

Some of them even choosing to become second or third wives to married men, according to the Islamic Sharia Council.

The charity, based in Britain, gives legal guidance to Muslims and has said it is receiving a high number of queries from women struggling to find suitable partners.

 

 

 

                                                                       

Many of the women have also said they would prefer to hold down high-profile jobs rather than look after their husbands.

Taking more than one wife is illegal in the UK but men marry again in a nikah religious ceremony, allowing them to take up to four wives.

Mizan Raja, 35, who organises Muslim marriages around the world, told the Sunday Times, that he has had hundreds of calls in the past six months from women asking about becoming second wives.

Mr Raja said: 'The demand for these relationships is led by the women, not the men. In one generation women have become educated, entrepreneurial and professional.

'The Muslim community is struggling with this, how do you cope with women who wear trousers?'

He said that many Muslim men just wanted a 'homemaker' and to come home to a clean house and a plate of food on the table.

He added the men didn't want the 'headache' of being in a relationship with a professional woman.

It is thought the Muslim women are also actively seeking out married men because they do not want the hassle of having to cook for their husbands after a hard day at work and are quite happy to have part-time relationships.

D'Banj to perform, Jay-Z to Headline BBC Radio 1's Hackney Weekend

Hip-Hop mogul Jay-Z has been booked to headline BBC Radio 1's Hackney Weekend event, a huge outdoor festival set to take place as part the of 2012 london Olympic Games.
The event will take place on London's Hackney Marshes on June 23–24 and will hold up to 100,000 people. Jay-z will headline the event's opening day (June 23), with a second headliner set to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
The majority of the tickets for the event are being given free to residents of Hackney and the surrounding London boroughs.
Nigerian music star D'banj is one of the acts billed to perform at the festival . Among other acts confirmed to perform are David guetta, dappy,jessie j,emeli sande ,tinie tempah and leona lewis.

MO’HITS WAR: FRIENDS MOVE TO RECONCILE D’BANJ AND DON JAZZY

After nine years of collaborating and entertaining their fans worldwide, Mo’Hits bosses Michael Collins aka Don Jazzy and Dapo ‘D’banj‘ Oyebanjo may soon be ending their hitherto ‘untouchable’ partnership.

Multiple sources say, following protracted disagreements, both parties may have reached a mutual agreement on ending their business partnership, although they haven’t come out to say anything to the public.

Reports, including that of Nigerian daily, The Vanguard, say Don Jazzy and D’banj’s relationship has gone terribly sour, with possibility of the acclaimed producer launching another label, which will see him have full authority and sole ownership. Don Jazzy currently co-owns Mo’Hits with D’banj. The pair formed the label in London after working out of JJC’s Backbone Music in 2004.

A barrage of unanswered questions from fans have long been flocking the enigmatic producer’s page on popular micro-blogging site Twitter, but in stark contrast to his usual responsiveness, Don Jazzy has been quiet. He hasn’t tweeted since the story came to light.

Before now, the famous duo were never seen anywhere without each other, but at the time of writing this report, Don Jazzy is in Nigeria without his hitherto ever present pal D’banj, who is promoting his brand in America while he works on his forthcoming fourth album ‘Mr Endowed’.

On the other hand, we’re told the Mo’hits producer has temporarily moved into Dr. SID‘s 1004 Victoria Island apartment, where Wande Coal also resides, having deserted the multi-million Naira Lekki mansion he moved into with D’Banj in early 2011.

Insiders say this new development, if not arrested before things totally crumble, could spell the end of what’s probably the biggest music powerhouse and label ever seen in Nigeria.

GENESIS

The now evident cracks became obvious around the time the producer who is also the President and CEO of Mo’Hits, bagged the Kanye West G.O.O.D Music deal which also influenced a $3m JV deal, with D’Banj as key beneficiary. The Kanye project catapulted both stars to a whole new pedestal in their careers, where they now rubbed shoulders with the biggest names in the international music scene. But the problems had emanated before then.

From then on, insiders say ‘D’banj’s ego, which was already causing tension within the label, only got bigger and harder to check’. Sources claim this new feeling of invincibility on the singer’s part began to make him question his continued association with his long-time friend and collaborator, who didn’t seem to be ‘representing’ on this new found wavelength.

The recent Occupy Nigeria protest also saw the acts take separate sides – while D’banj did little to save himself from accusations of collecting money from Goodluck Jonathan, Don Jazzy readily denounced the government and identifed with the people; saying, in what would become a famous tweet, that he ‘regrets voting for Goodluck Jonathan’

FALLOUT

It appears D’banj, whose Don Jazzy produced 2005 ‘No Long Thing‘ album instantly brought him to the limelight, is uncomfortable with the continued delay in the release of his fourth studio album ‘Mr Endowed‘, which was initially supposed to be released late 2011.

Trusted sources allege that D’banj no longer remits payments from any shows he attends into the label’s general account. As one source puts it ‘he feels Don Jazzy isn’t putting the right kind of energy into the business right now’.

A Daily Times report claims D’banj is now represented by the label’s A&R – Oluseun ‘Bankulli’ Abisagboola while the other Mo’Hits acts, including Don Jazzy, are still being represented by long-time manager Sunday Are. All efforts to reach Bankulli proved abortive, and while Mr. Are picked up our phone calls, he didn’t answer our inquiries, neither did he reply our text messages asking the same questions. Don Jazzy had not responded to our emails as at the time of going to press.

CONSEQUENCES

As already reported, Don Jazzy has now chosen to stay with other artistes on his label, specifically putting up with Dr. Sid at the moment, leaving the Lekki Mansion deserted.

D’Banj, on the other hand, has been seen in the United States, and Paris recently, living it up with music heavyweights like Diddy, Swizz Beatz, Common and other stars who came to support his new boss, Kanye West at Paris Fashion Week. Those close to him also say he’s bought himself a home in Los Angeles where he now hopes to reside fully. He’s also reportedly building himself a new team – made up of trusted associates like Bankuli and a former Mtech boss who’s heading his business team.

One source told us: ‘The camp has definitely split up – D’banj and younger brother K Switch are shuttling to and fro the US and UK, while Dr SID (who’s had repeated spats with D’Banj in the past) and D’Prince have stuck with Don Jazzy. ‘Dr. SID feels indebted to Jazzy as he blew up his career‘.

It is uncertain where Wande Coal stands for now. And while many are already taking sides, we’re told those who understand the implications of the pending break-up, are working day and night to make sure it doesn’t happen. ‘Several people are working to make sure it’s resolved’ a top industry source told us, Saturday. ‘Friends and partners will always quarrel. I dont see anything happening between them that can not be resolved. They stand to benefit more by remaining together than if they go their separate ways…’

However, one Mo’Hits insider claims ‘sadly this thing has gone beyond repair’. He refused to elaborate.

POST BREAK-UP PROJECTIONS FOR THE MO’HITS DUO

So with the breakup of the duo looking like a reality, what lies in store for both power partners if they decide to go their separate ways? NET examines the possible scenarios.

D’BANJ:

This music maverick’s career is not likely to be over, at least not in the foreseeable future. With increasing international exposure opening doors for him from London to New York, multi-million dollar deals begging for his star endorsement, close associations with the biggest names in musical entertainment; Snoop Dogg, Kanye West, Jay Z and more, there is little evidence to support the notion that a split will stop his career in its’ tracks.

However, ‘breaking free’ from his long-time producer and friend, if not properly managed, may mark the beginning of a long and painful journey into a reckless and irresponsible lifestyle, culminating into personal and career decline.

DON JAZZY:

The producer is in no danger of being out of relevance musically, since his G.O.O.D music deal will no doubt task him on bringing out more creative material fit for his new family’s primarily American audience, thereby boosting his profile. His ever building clientele also doesn’t seem to be much threatened, as even now, he commands some of the highest production fees in the continent.

However, his visibility in the media may suffer, thereby confining him permanently to the booth. The combined force of Wande Coal, Dr. Sid, D’Prince and possibly K-Switch, taking nothing away from their commercial viability and talent, don’t seem enough to ensure his visual presence, at least not like his Don Jazzy/D’Banj duo formular. One good thing for him though: Don Jazzy is a star maker who can pick up another talent and create a star in the mould of D’banj in a few years. He also appears to be a more disciplined act; and in showbusiness, with discipline comes focus and longevity…
