Mr Ayedee starts new drug related case with Bola Tinubu as rift with Linda Ikeji ends

Mukhtar Daniyan, an Africa and Middle East Public Policy and Security Expert, popularly known by his Twitter handle @MrAyeDee, and for his lead role in the cyberspace saga that brought down the Linda Ikeji Blog last week, has revealed shocking details about alleged criminal records of APC National Leader and former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He revealed how Tinubu and his wife were once drug barons in the US and alleged that Tinubu is not the APC leader's real name...
Below is the full text of Mr. Daniyan’s post which appeared on his Google + Page

While the world was protesting against Shell Oil and the Abacha Administration for the pollution of the Niger Delta and the hanging of Ken Saro-Wiwa, Bola Tinubu secretly owned and operated a Shell Oil Station in Washington DC.
This is despite the fact that he was a part of NADECO and was publicly involved in condemning Shell Oil and the Abacha administration.
Indeed, Bola Tinubu is a shining example of a person who has extremely low moral turpitude. In my 20+ years of observing his operations, I realized long ago that if he has to choose between personal profit and doing the right thing, the former always wins.
Speaking of, as much fun as we make of Buruji Kashamu for being wanted in the USA for Heroin distribution, Bola Tinubu and his wife, Remi, were also involved in the distribution of that drug in the late 80s, early 90s.
Their career in the drug trade was cut short when they were apprehended by the US government.
To get off the hook, Bola (who was then a Senator in Nigeria) and Remi Tinubu struck a deal with Federal Prosecutors where they turned state’s evidence and forfeited the bulk of the assets they got from the narcotics trade. In exchange their criminal records were sealed, and all that was left was the civil forfeiture of assets judgement.
Below is part of that judgement:
1:93-cv-04483 USA v. Acct 263226700, et al
John A. Nordberg, presiding
Cause: 21:0881 Forfeiture of Property (Cause 21:881 means the property is forfeited because it was acquired through the distribution of drugs)
MINUTE ORDER of 10/4/93 by Hon. John A. Nordberg: Counsel for the plaintiff appeared. Enter Decree of Forfeiture as to funds held by First Heritage Bank.
It is ordered that the funds in the amount of $460,000 in account 263226700 held by First Heritage Bank in the name of Bola Tinubu are forfeited to the United States pursuant to 21 USC 881(a)(6) and 18 USC 981.
It is ordered that First Heritage Bank shall issue a check in the amount of $460,000 payable to Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago terminating case Mailed notice (fce).
Of course I need not go into the issue of Bola Tinubu’s real identity, his birth name isn’t even “Tinubu” for starters, nor do I need to rehash the issue of his falsified tertiary academic records.
Mr. Daniyan was not done yet. He carried on with a set of tweets targeted at Tinubu. He tweeted from his Twitter handle @MrAyeDee as follows with the corresponding images:
“For those who want to access Tinubu’s case history, I am about to give a primer on exactly what you need to do. Coming up in a few minutes.”
“Firstly go to the United States Public Access to Court Electronic Records (PACER) site http://www.pacer.gov “

Have you read the Inspiring Story of the Celebrated Taxi Driver who returned N18million 8yrs ago?!

By now you must have read about Mr Imeh Usuah, the Taxi Driver who returned the N18million that was forgotten in his car by one of his passengers.
He carried out the act in 2007 and he has been rewarded with a national honour. The father of six, Mr. Imeh Usuah, was one of those that received the national honour as a Member of the Federal Republic last week, he was also given plots of land in Abuja.
Read his inspiring story below:

“It was one morning by 5.30 AM, in November, 2007, when British Airways (BA), landed at the international wing of the airport in Abuja. As usual, I positioned myself from metres away from the arrival wing waiting for passengers to come out so that I can get my customers and take them where ever they want to go inside town.
“In my waiting position I saw these two white men who came with the British airways. From distance I could observe that they were obviously tired from their look. They beckoned on me requesting for a drop at the Hilton Transcorp Hotel in Maitama area in Abuja.
“I didn’t waste time as I immediately put some of their bags into the boot of my cab and the remaining ones neatly arranged on the back seat and underneath the seats, and off I headed for the destination.
“I arrived at the hotel lounge within 45 minutes and dropped them with their luggage. I got paid N,4000 for my service and I zoomed off, but unknown to both of us there was a bag which contained this huge amount of money left behind tucked away underneath my seat.”
“I decided to take the cab for washing as my usual practice after the day’s work, and while I was removing the foot mats in a bent down position, I saw this brown suite case tucked underneath the driver’s seat. Immediately I remembered the passengers I had carried for the day and I started thinking of who really among them could have forgotten the suitcase. Instinctively I knew it was one of the many bags belonging to those chaps I took to Transcorp Hilton. Even though I didn’t open the suitcase, I sensed at that hour that it must at least contain some valuable items.
My immediate response was to inform our association chairman at that time, Mr. Alex Ekwueme Udom. I told him what happened and that I was returning the bag to the owners.”
He continued: “By the time I met these guys, the owners of the bag at the hotel, they were standing at the hotel lobby confused, dejected and frustrated. They couldn’t even recognise me as the cab driver that brought them from the airport and shockingly they didn’t know the number of taxi. But, I could recognise them.
“These people could not believe their eyes. Their confused state disappeared, and they were so happy that they went on their knees thanking me for returning the bag. They requested for my GSM numbers and in a twinkle of an eye, I disappeared from the scene,” he said.
“I did it to let people know, especially the foreigners that Nigerians are good and great people. I can go hungry for days, for as long as my integrity remains, hunger will disappear by itself.”

Divorce Drama: Ini Edo's in-laws rebuke her for denying "cheaing' reports on twitter

And the divorce drama gets messier....:(
A few days ago, Ini Edo took to twitter to confirm she is divorcing her hubby Phillip Ehiagwina, she however recited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the divorce and denied claims she had cheated on her husband.
Well, relatives & friends of her soon to be ex husband are calling her out…saying she’s lying about being faithful.

The close relative of Phillip Ehiagwina told PulseNG thus:
Ini Edo should shut up about the marriage crash because with the way she is going by trying to paint Phillip as the wrong party, we may be forced to open her can of worms and it will not be palatable to her and her career.
I can tell you that Ini Edo is a serial cheat who played the field behind her husband’s back for the duration of their marriage.  Is she going to deny she was dating one Island big boy whose girlfriend organised her friends to beat her up and  injured her?

Another family source said,
Bros, I can tell you that Ini Edo is not as innocent as she is trying to make people believe or think. We caught her on more than three occasion with three different men and she always begged us to forgive her.
We can even mention some of the men she had affairs with including a South-South governor whose wife embarrassed her and ordered her security to send her out of the governor’s guest house in the state capital. She should dare us and we will mention the name of the governor on the pages of newspapers.

A close friend of Phillip also spilled saying,
Did she tell you how Phillip embarrassed her in front of her people when he went to collect his bride price? He told her people the kind of adulterous daughter they have and how she had been cheating on him right from the first day they were married.
In fact, he did not want to collect the bride price but her people begged him to collect it as that would free her to get married to another man in the future.

Oh well! Apparently, this people obviously don’t like her & they are determined to drag her name through the mud!

N199m cocaine concealed in perfumes, capacitors

CRIME1
“Daniel Marvin, with Nigerian Passport Number A05545613, was arrested during the inward screening of passengers on an Emirate Airline flight from Dubai. He was found in possession of 7.580kg of cocaine hidden inside capacitors.
“The second suspect, Akubuo Victor was found in possession of 5.750kg of cocaine hidden inside perfumes. Both suspects were coming from Brazil when they were arrested.”
Twenty-nine years old Marvin, a trader from Abia State, during interrogation, claimed that he was introduced into drug trafficking by his childhood friend.
According to him, “I am a young man searching for business breakthrough. In the process, my friend told me that I could earn half a million naira by just going to Brazil.
“Aside that, he told me that they would buy my return ticket and that all I needed to do was to bring in cocaine. He assured that the drugs will never be detected because of the way it was packed.
“I succeeded in passing all routes from Brazil. Unfortunately, the drug was detected by NDLEA officers during search at Abuja Airport.”
On his part, 26-year-old Favour Victor, said: “I am a trader in Anambra State. But at a point, business started dwindling and I needed to revive it.
“I was lured into drug trafficking by a friend who promised to pay me N500,000. The drug was hidden inside new perfume containers.
“I was told that it was a new method that will never be detected. But it was uncovered by the NDLEA officers,” said the father of two.
Commenting on the arrest, Chairman/Chief Executive of the NDLEA, Ahmadu Giade, assured that the agency would continue to frustrate activities of drug barons through superior intelligence.
He said: “These arrests and seizures are products of superior counter-narcotic strategies.
“The agency is prepared and deeply committed to the eradication of drug trafficking cartels through similar intelligence driven operation.

‘Be prepared to support Atiku, others for Presidency’ – Buhari tells supporters

All Progressives Congress Presidential ticket contender, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd) has told his supporters to be prepared to rally behind other APC candidates that may clinch the ticket in the upcoming primaries.
“I intend to offer myself for the position of the president of the republic on the platform of our great party; I intend to make a formal announcement soon”, Buhari said.
“I hope I can count on your continuing support and sacrifice. However, I would like to point out to you that, to be more meaningful, your support must extend beyond my person and always be available to the party and all those that the party puts forward; because it is the party that is the platform”.
“It is the primaries that will determine who eventually represents the party in which capacity. If I get the party nomination, I expect you will redouble your effort and commitment until we clinch the presidency”, he added.
“But in the event that it happens to be one of the other aspirants who wins, I will expect you as good party men to extend to him your total support. We are a united party and united we shall remain because our strength lies in our unity.
“My supporters must not engage in any behaviour or conduct that will tarnish the image of any leader or promote division and rancour within the ranks of the party. Whoever does that should know he or she is working for the enemy”.

If I Were Linda Ikeji, Why I Wouldn’t Buy a Range Rover Sport With $153,000!

Linda Ikeji Range

On Tuesday, 16th September 2014, popular Nigerian blogger Linda Ikeji posted on her blog her latest luxury toy; a brand new 2014 Range Rover Sport Supercharged. According to her, this cost a whopping sum of N24m [$153,000]!

This is not her first car by the way, this is her 3rd car following a 2011 Infiniti FX 35 [N8m] and a 2008 Toyota Camry. Conservatively, her 3 cars cost N36m [$228,000], not bad for a blogger right?

The Value of Money

Anyone is free to spend their money however they want.

But stop to think about this, would Linda Ikeji be able to buy these cars if Larry Page and Sergey Brin hadn’t invented Google the company that created the free blogging platform she uses?

Would Linda Ikeji be able to buy these cars if Andy Bechtolsheim the first venture capitalist who funded Google’s startup with $100,000 had gone ahead to buy a Range Rover Sport for $153,000?

Would Linda Ikeji be able to buy these cars if Larry Page and Sergey Brin had used the money they created blogspot with to buy a Range Rover Sport?

As a matter of fact, Larry Page whose net worth is $32.1 Billion doesn’t own a luxury car as much as Linda Ikeji. His 3 automobiles valued at $137,000 are all environmentally friendly products;

Toyota Prius, a hybrid electric mid-size hatchback. It is among the most clean cars of the world based on smog formation and vehicular emissions. This was the world’s first mass produced gasoline-electric hybrid car. $20,000
Tesla Roadster, a Battery Electric Vehicle sports car. It has the distinction of being the first all-electric vehicle in serial production. Larry Page is also a key investor in the firm and thus was one of the buyer of this car. $109, 000
Zero X motorbike, an Electric Vehicle from Zero Motorcycles, which you can get for just under US $ 8,000.

On the other hand, Sergey Brin, who has a net worth of $ 30.7 Billion, like his partner, also doesn’t own a luxury car as much as Linda Ikeji. His 2 automobiles valued at $129,000, are all environmentally friendly products; a Toyota Prius [$20,000] and a Tesla Roadster [$109,000].

If-I-were-Linda-Ikeji

The African Mentality of Wealth

As Africans, we have a very funny way of utilizing wealth. Unlike our western counterparts, who see wealth as a tool for the creation of more wealth and more good in the world, we see wealth as a tool for luxury.

We make money to ‘show off’, to make a statement that we have arrived. Our appetite for extravagancy increases as our wealth increases. We suddenly forget how we once survived without all these luxurious toys and completely lose all senses of moderation.

One luxury car doesn’t seem to be enough; we keep reaching out for more as more money comes in. we decorate our garage with expensive toys that are tying down valuable resources that ought to be utilized for the creation of more wealth and more good in the world.

This is the same mentality common amongst our politicians as well as religious leaders. The open display of wealth and excessive accumulation of luxury toys are all evident around us. And yet we keep on complaining that our economies are not growing. We keep on wondering when Africa will measure up with the rest of the world.

How can we ever measure up when all we do with wealth is to spend it wastefully on consumables rather than re-invest it on wealth creating opportunities. Rather than use of wealth to create Venture Capital firms that will empower startups with seed funds, we spend them on luxury toys that does no one good but our selfish selves!

To Whom Much Is GIVEN, Much Is Expected

That Linda Ikeji rose to such level of affluence while using a free blogging platform that some other entrepreneurs created with their wealth, is enough reason for her to tread wisely.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with her first 2 cars, they were high profile cars already. Going as much as spending $153,000 for a 3rd car, was purely wasteful for someone with her humble beginnings. You would think she should be more considerate with money.

Less than the amount she spent on her 2014 Range Rover Sport, $100,000 was the seed capital that built Google into a global $395 Billion brand that employs over 50,000 people worldwide. If they didn’t use this money wisely, Linda Ikeji won’t be making that much from blogging for free.

Recently, on the 12th of September, the same Google offers $100,000 cloud credit for startups in order to create more success stories to add to its portfolio.

The point of this essay is simple, that you have so much is not a justification to waste so much. With the same amount you waste on luxury items, is what others have changed the world with.

It is true that wealth reveals our true nature. The wise become wiser as their wealth grows. The generous gives more as their wealth grows. The greedy acquires more as their wealth grows. In the end, to whom much is given, much is expected!

Conclusion: Linda Ikeji Needs To Stop Showing Off!

As entrepreneurs, we are not like the folks in the entertainment industry who flaunt their toys every now and then. We have a higher responsibility to make better use of the resources at our disposal. Business is an institution of society and the society depends on us entrepreneurs for the consistent creation of products/services that push humanity forward.

Entrepreneurship is not showbiz. Entrepreneurship is not about being a celebrity. Entrepreneurship is about leaving a legacy. Real entrepreneurs change the world by doing stuffs that MATTER. They are too busy making a difference. No time for paparazzi!

“Ewedu” Can Prevent And Cure Ebola – Professor Adebukola Ositelu.

A consultant at the Lagos University Hospital (LUTH), Idi-
Araba, Professor Adebukola Ositelu, has said Ewedu which
is known in English as the Long-Fruited vegetable, is
capable of preventing and curing the Ebola Virus Disease
(EVD) by boosting the immune system.
Ositelu stated this at the annual African Traditional
Medicine Day organised by the National Agency for Food
and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) on
Thursday, at Ikeja, Lagos.
According to her, the vegetable had a high potency to
boost the immune system such that it’s usage would
prevent an individual from being infected with Ebola, or get
rid of the virus in the case of an infected person.
She, however, noted that chances of being cured by an
intake of Ewedu when a victim has gotten to the stage of
vomiting was low, but could still be administered.
Ositelu, who is a professor of Ophthalmology at the
University of Lagos, Akoka (UNILAG), said to administer
the ‘treatment’, the Ewedu should be rinsed thoroughly
with liquid vinegar “blend and cook with drinkable water,
without adding salt or kaun (pottash) or any other
ingredients; then take a 25cl or half a tumbler measure
once a week, first thing in the morning before any meal”
for prevention, adding that those already infected should
take it every morning for seven to five days.

“Rampaging” Terrorists: Military Vows ‘Everything’ To Defend Nigeria As Gulak Falls To Boko Haram

Major General Olukolade also urged
Nigerians not to lose hope or be
disenchanted, but to remain steadfast and
supportive of the military as it conducted its
counterinsurgency operations. As the
statement was being issued,
SaharaReporters learnt that the township of
Gulak in Adamawa State, close to Madagali,
has also fallen to Boko Haram insurgents.

Just days after Boko Haram took Bama, Borno
State’s second-largest city, Nigeria’s military forces
on Friday vowed to defeat the insurgency amidst
news that the town of Gulak, Adamawa State has
just been overran by Boko Haram militants.
In a statement signed by Major General Chris Olukolade, the
Director of Defense Information, he underlined a “sense of
apprehension” on account of what he called the current
challenges in the counter-terrorism efforts in the northeast
of the country.
Major General Chris Olukolade reiterated the pledge and
commitment previously made in a briefing to the Joint
Committee on Defense of the National Assembly that
everything would be done to reverse the situation and
defeat the “rampaging” terrorists.
“While welcoming all the concerns shown by Nigerians and
a section of the international community following the
increased menace and activities of terrorists, it is
necessary to reassure all that the Nigerian Armed Forces is
more than ever determined and committed to the defense of
the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Nigeria,
regardless of any odd”, Olukolade said.
Major General Olukolade also urged Nigerians not to lose
hope or be disenchanted, but to remain steadfast and
supportive of the military as it conducted its
counterinsurgency operations.
As the statement was being issued, SaharaReporters learnt
that the township of Gulak in Adamawa State, close to
Madagali, has also fallen to Boko Haram insurgents.
Sources claimed that Nigerian troops from Task Force
Mike, who were drawn from the Special Operation Battalion
and the 3rd Division of the Nigerian Army in Jos, fled the
area after the militants overran the town.
However, military sources said the soldiers, who number
about 300, withdrew to Mubi, Adamawa State.
Gulak, which fell to Boko Haram militants today, had been
previously chosen by Nigeria’s security forces as a staging
ground for retaking Madagali from the militants.

I Support Rev Anita to Divorce Pastor Chris –Founding Member

A friend of Rev Anita, Cyla Simpson, just gave her take on
the Oyakilhomes divorce: Read her take:
“I am writing this to everyone with a heavy heart. It is heart
wrenching to see the way people are referring to Rev Anita
and how uncultured people are while talking. You don’t
need to be derogatory or condescending to express yourself
no matter your level as a christian. First I would join true
Christians around the world to appeal to Rev Anita but
would say listen to God rather than man.
“I want to appeal to everyone to please pause and think
deep because whatever a man sow, he shall surely reap.
This is like beating a child like Ibo elders will say and still
take the tears from the child. Take a step aside and think.
Is there a woman who will give up her home on flimsy
excuse, if no why are we so callous and insensitive in this
matter. I am a married woman and so are many reading
this, or you have a mother, a sister or daughter. If you are
happy for them to go through whatever brought Rev Anita
to this level please continue with your judgemental
approach towards her. And the God of truth will visit
everyone with same except if there was no cause. Amen!!!
“I have read some accusing her of money and power
motivation...
PLEASE LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THE PASTOR ANITA I
KNOW AS MOST OF YOU YOUNG ONES IN NIGERIA DO NOT
HAVE MUCH OF AN ENCOUNTER WITH HER. Rev Anita has
been my pastor for about 13 years now. I am one of the
founding members of her church and I have seen her grow
a church from using all any available venue while planting
more churches in faith sending her best member out to
start a new church, from two churches in England has
grown to churches in almost every borough and cities. Rev
Anita will see anyone and everyone regardless of your
status.
“If she ever kept you waiting, she will apologise profusely
throughout the meeting and make it good to you. Rev Anita
without an office will still counsel us even in her car on
Wednesday night after church yet she has 1hour 30mins
drive back home with 2 young girls. For so long she was
driving a volkswagon golf until 2005 that we bought her a
BMW X3 and she still refused to drive it for many months
until she was begged to use it so that we can be blessed.
She used the same car until 2010/2011 and the
replacement she had then is still what she used till her last
day in church last year.
“We begged her to come around for us to celebrate her
birthday but she will still go into hiding. On her return the
little song we will do for her, she will return it to Rev Chris
in thanksgiving. Any money you give her she sends it
straight to church account or Loveworld TV. If we ever
raise money for her birthday she ask us to go and use it for
evangelism or send it to Loveworld TV. When you give her
any material thing, regardless of the shop you purchased
it, she will use it for you to see and thank you as long as
she sees you for the gift.
“At Christmas, while service was on up to 2013 christmas
she will give almost everyone in church gift. Foodstuff will
be dropped at your side as service. She will specially take
care of the elderly, help you settle down when you arrive in
the country. No barren left without children as she will
make it her project until it happens. So how come people
came up with this terrible accusation. You accused her of
being rude to some CEC members. Wow. This is wicked.
First for so long, she was the Vice President and others
have other positions. I thought husband and wife are one.
“She raised 2 girls in this society and the 2 girls are
admirable, humble, down-to-earth children. They are
children not a reflection of the home they grew. Pastor
Chris was not around. He came to our church on Fathers’
Day sometimes ago and he told us one of the daughters’
requested for it as her birthday gift – how touching and
how she treasures her dad’s presence. She could ask for
material thing but she asked for his presence and we all
are here judging them. I remember these girls will politely
beg me to allow them carry my baby and they will play
with him and when they bring him back, they will thank me
for letting them carry him and I’m surprised because I
should thank them for helping me. And they do same to
other mothers in the mothers’ area where we sit in church.
Is it not what they saw their mum do, they are not class-
freak.
“I remember that visit of Pastor, Rev Tom talking said we
may not value what we have. That she is the grace in the
CEC. If they all condemn someone, she will see a good
reason to embrace the person and she has always been
right. Rev Chris said at one IPPC that most changes we see
here in the ministry, she in her simple way brought them
and that was the day he spoke about how she talked about
the effort we put into publicity of programme but that same
or more should be put in telling what the Lord did in that
programme when its over. So what changed now, because
she is asking for a change.
“I have read all the messages here by some writers, the
news is all over our church and I have taken my time to
find out what is really happening and to the much
available, below are the things Rev Anita is asking for:
She told Rev Chris that you are such an organised person,
you give us almost a full year calendar on Dec 31st of
every year, please put the family in the timetable too. The
times you don’t have any engagement, please come home.
I need you and the children need you. Please bear in mind
she has been here since 1999 and she was just about 30
years old then as a married woman with 2 children. So for
almost 16 years of her marriage, no husband at home for
straight 1 week, no dad at home for the children. No
christmas, yet he has party with the staff that we all watch
at Christmas. Even Jesus always withdrew from the crowd
to fellowship with his father.
- She asked Rev Chris that on hearing of the immorality,
‘not holding it against you but let all these ladies move out
of White House and go and get houses outside. They are
rich enough to buy houses at their place of choice if they
don’t already have one and allow them marry. Who benefits
from this choice, is it not everyone? So which is her offence
in this. And Rev Chris did not agree to it. The brothers even
said they went to have meeting with him in South Africa to
beg him to at least meet her half-way but he refused.
2. Public responses are the emergency Bible study after
their meeting with him titled – Spirit of Error and Spirit of
Truth, please flash back at this meeting or relisten to it and
after so much call in the UK for him to produce our mother,
he had meeting with our pastors and deacons in May and it
is recorded that many left the meeting weeping for the way
he described our mother that some have had lifetime
experience with.”

Saudi Arabia May Move The Tomb Of Prophet Muhammad

Controversial plans have emerged to move the tomb of the Prophet Muhammad,
Islam's second-holiest site.
The Prophet Muhammad, born in 570 AD, is believed by Muslims to be the last of God's prophets to mankind who delivered the religion's final revelation.
His resting place in Medina, Saudi Arabia is visited by millions of Muslims every year and is seen as the second holiest site after the Kaaba, the famous black cubed
building in Mecca.
But it emerged last night that a Saudi academic has put forward contentious plans to have the Prophet's remains moved from the tomb over fears by some scholars that
the site is leading to idolatry.
According to the Independent, a 61-page document has been circulated among the supervisors of the holy site proposing that the Prophet's body be moved to the nearby
al-Baqi cemetery, where it would be interred anonymously.
Dr Irfan al-Alawi, director of the Islamic Heritage Research Foundation, told the newspaper: 'they want to prevent pilgrims from attending and venerating the tomb
because they believe this is "shirq", or idolatry.
'But the only way they can stop people visiting the Prophet is to get him out and into the cemetery.'
Idolatry, known as 'shirq' in the Islamic faith, is the worship of objects or saints and is forbidden in the faith.
There is no suggestion that Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah, who is the site's formal custodian, nor the supervisors of the al-Masjid al-Nabawi mosque, which contains the
tomb, have agreed to the idea.
The Saudi government has previously insisted it treats the development of holy sites with 'the utmost seriousness'.
But it is feared the emergence of plans, which spring from a reform movement known as Wahhabism, could divide Muslims, with both Sunnis and Shias thought to be
opposed.
Dr Alawi told the Independent: 'The Prophet Muhammad's grave is venerated by the mainstream Sunni, who would never do it. It is just as important for the Shia too,
who venerate the Prophet's daughter, Fatima.
'I'm sure there will be shock across the Muslim world at these revelations. It will cause outrage.'
Violence in Iraq and the rise of the radical Isis, or Islamic State, organisation has already strained tensions between Sunnis and Shias in the region.

Boko Haram : ‘ Bodies litter’ Bamatown – BBC

A lawmaker has told the BBC that bodies littered the
streets of Bama, a northern Nigerian town two days after
it was seized by militant Islamists .
Boko Haram fighters were patrolling the streets of Bama,
preventing people from burying the dead , Ahmed Zanna
said, despite claims by the Borno government that the
town had fallen .
Officials said about 26 , 000 people had been displaced by
fighting in Bama, a key town in the battle for control of
Nigeria ’ s north - eastern Borno state.
Earlier this week , the Nigeria Security Network ( NSN )
think - tank said the group had made “lightning territorial
gains ” in recent months, raising fears that the country
could disintegrate like Syria and Iraq, where the Islamic
State ( IS ) rebel group has declared a caliphate .
‘ Fought gallantly’
Boko Haram has also said it has set up a caliphate in the
areas it controls – it is not clear if the two groups are
allied .
Mr Zanna, a senator in Borno, said the humanitarian
situation in Bama was “ terrible ” and there had been a “ lot
of killings ” in the town .
“ So many bodies litter the streets , and people are not
allowed to even go and bury the dead ones. So the
situation is getting worse and worse , ” Mr Zanna told the
BBC’ s Newsday programme after speaking to a resident
who fled the town .
Boko Haram has captured a string of towns in northern -
eastern Nigeria in recent months, fuelling concern that it
could advance towards the main city , Maiduguri .
Mr Zanna said it would be “ catastrophic ” if Boko Haram
launched an assault on Maiduguri , which has a
population of more than two million.
“ I ’ m begging the government to send more troops and
armoury to Maiduguri , ” he said .
“ Boko Haram do come overwhelmingly because they
recruited en masse in the villages [ in Borno state] , ” he
added.

WONDERS SHALL NEVER END: Groom Dumps Bride At Ikoyi Registry, Escaped With Her Money

Uzor Emmanuel, a 45-year old married man with three
kids played a fast one on a 42-year old lady, Victoria
Adeleye at the Ikoyi Marriage Registry Lagos state,
Southwest Nigeria.
Emmanuel who had proposed to marry Adeleye at the
registry dumped her at the court premises and
disappeared with her N4 million. The wedding was
subsequently called-off following Emmanuel’s
disappearance.
Friends of the couple, who attended the wedding
ceremony were left shell-shocked as marriage officials
cancelled the wedding.
A source told our correspondent that the relationship
between, Adeleye and Emmanuel blossomed after they
met at a church in Isolo.
Unknown to Adelye, Emmanuel was married with three
kids. He told her that he was still single and needed to
marry since he was growing old.
Adeleye who was also eager to get a husband, showed
interest and became an intimate friend with Emmanuel.
Shortly after courtship, Emmanuel proposed to marry her
and she accepted. He reportedly moved into Adeleye’s
flat at Bola Adeyinwa street Aswani, Isolo where they
started living together as a couple without the knowledge
of their pastor and members of the church.
To cover their tracks before the church, Emmanuel
suggested to Adeleye they need to go to court to
consummate the relationship legally.
Adeleye agreed and brought out some money with which
they used to facilitate the marriage but on the day they
were supposed to tie the knot, Emmanuel carried out the
last of his plans.
The duo had arrived the registry with close friends but
while they were waiting for court officials to commence
the ceremony, Emmanuel excused himself and went
outside the registry. From there he fled with her money
and did not return to the hall.
The suspect was later arrested following a tip off. He
then confessed that he had a wife with kids and he was
only interested in Adeleye’s money.
He was charged before Isolo Magistrate’s court for
obtaining under false pretence and stealing under the
Criminal Code.
When he was arraigned, he pleaded not guilty. The
presiding Magistrate, Mrs F.M. Kayode granted him bail in
the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He is remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri, Lagos
pending when he will fulfill his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 2 October 2014 for trial.
Police sources said his wife refused to show up to
facilitate his bail, saying what he did to the woman was
bad.

FBI asked us to investigate Atiku – Obasanjo reveals why former VP cannot travel to USA

September 11, 2013
Former president Olusegun Obasanjo has opened a can of
worms involving the corruption lifestyle of his former
deputy and New PDP leader, Atiku Abubakar.
Speaking during an interview with Zero Tolerance, a
magazine designed to promote anti-corruption and owned
by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, the
former President revealed that his administration was
written by the United States law enforcement agencies to
investigate Atiku. The former President said this was why
Atiku, who has substantial property and other investment
in the United States could not travel to the country.
Obasanjo narrated, “We got a letter from America in June
2006, listing a number of people to be investigated; Atiku
was one of them and that letter went straight to the EFCC.
“It was just shown to me because they will not be able to
investigate my number two without my saying ‘ok’. So, I
said if we got this letter from America, so be it.
“If we have agreement with FBI, Metropolitan Police and
they are helping us and we are helping them and they
write to us and say these are the people we want you to
help us investigate, what do you think we should do? You
as EFCC, what will you do, coincidence or no
coincidence?”
He said Atiku had refused to travel to the United States
since he left office because of alleged corruption.
He went on: “Well, I don’t know what the EFCC has found
out about him, but I don’t know if he can go to America.
Do you know? I am asking you, do you know?
“He travels? Travels to where? To Dubai? Let him go to
America and return to Nigeria.
“Well, I don’t know what the EFCC has found out about
him, but I don’t know if he can go to America. Do you
know? I am asking you, do you know?”
Atiku’s media aide, Mallam Garba Shehu, told journalists:
“Turaki (Atiku) is in China and the time difference is about
eight hours. There is no way I could reach him. You can
run your story, we will react later. Turaki will wish to
personally react,” he said.
Speaking on allegations that former EFCC chairman, Nuhu
Ribadu was his attack dog used to witch hunt perceived
opposition during his regime, Obasanjo said the
allegations were untrue and that Ribadu even investigated
him.
“He is an attack dog to those people who have run foul of
the law, people like (former Vice President) Atiku! He is an
attack dog to take down Tafa Balogun, my own Inspector
General of Police? Is that what you call attack dog?”
Obasanjo said: “He brought a report to me and said these
people are corrupt; how can I in my position receive a
report that says these people are corrupt, and then I say
‘extol him as a governor’. Is that the type of leader you
want me to be? I will not be that. So he brought a report; I
didn’t ask him to carry out an investigation; he even came
out and said he had found 28 governors as corrupt.
He said EFCC under Ribadu investigated him while in
office to prove that nobody should be below board in the
fight against corruption.
He said: “I was investigated. I told the EFCC to investigate
me. I told EFCC to carry out a clinical investigation and
they did it. They also did same with all the people on my
farm. One of them was telling me the other day how
Lamorde called him three times and took statements from
him.
“The EFCC even made sure that they did not submit that
report to me; they waited until I left and updated their
report after going round the world and saying ‘look; this is
the report’. Nobody should be below board in the fight
against corruption.”
“I will say where I think Ribadu has gone wrong but where
he is right, and he lifted that organisation, it should be
acknowledged.
“He did very well until he lost his direction when he left.
He did so well that he became a threat even to the
incoming administration; that is what happened. He was
so successful that his success began to be a problem for
him.”

Tinubu’s Massive Looting Of Lagos Uncovered…The Chagoury, Remi Tinubu Connection

tin
The  massive looting of Lagos state by the Leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has reached monumental proportion. Tinubu whose companies recently conered a multi billion road construction job in Ogun State, has in his pocket all the juicy contract in all the Action Congress’ states.

In retrospect, it might be difficult to come to terms with the fact that an individual could hold the  entire south west  to ransom. There is no doubt that  Tinubu has succeeded in buying the Lagos State government, and he has done this using government funds.
.
Whenever someone in Lagos begins to wonder where their 4th mainland bridge went, or what was the fate of the pipe-borne water project, or even where the schools and hospitals had vanished to, there is a silence that contains it all. The largest landlord in Lagos has done as he has pleased, and the rest of the state just has to deal with it. For instance: Number 4, Oyinkan Abayomi (formerly Queens) Drive, Ikoyi: A 5-bedroom detached house on one acre of land which was originally the Lagos State Governor’s guest house since 1979, but which now belongs to Tinubu. The certificate of occupancy of the property valued at N450 million was signed and released to him by Fashola in 2007 shortly after he assumed office.

Tinubu’s residence at 26 Bourdillon Road, Ikoyi was initially falsely presented as Oando Plc Guest House. Later, he purportedly bought it from Oando, and used public funds to rebuild and renovate it. The Lagos State Government bought the property and paid an undisclosed sum to him and thereafter gave the property back to him under the bogus Pension Bill he signed to law shortly before he left office in 2007. The property is worth over N600 million.

The annex of the Lagos State Guest House in Asokoro, Abuja was bought by the State Government in 2006 for N450 million, purportedly to protect the main house from security breach. Shortly after Tinubu left office, the property was transferred to him under the pension plan he signed into law before leaving office.

The 250-hectare land valued at about N35billion and strategically located at the Ajah junction on Lekki Road was initially meant for a General Hospital for the people of Eti-Osa Local Government but was stolen by Tinubu and handed over to Trojan Estate Ltd – a company owned by Deji and Wale Tinubu – to develop as Royal Garden Housing Estate at the expense of the taxpayers of Lagos.

The 1,000 hectares of land valued at about N75billion located at Lakowe near Abijo at Ibeju-Lekki Local Government and given to Lekki Concession Company (LCC) which is partly- owned by Tinubu and Fashola and being developed as golf course and housing estate by Assets and Resource Management Ltd (ARM) as ADIVA project.

The prime land of 157 hectares with 2.5km of Atlantic beachfront valued at about N10billion and stolen by Tinubu from the communities of Siriwon, Igbekodo, Apakin, etc in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government and given to Ibukun Fakeye – his crony to build a golf course and luxury villa with little or no compensation to the villagers. In addition, Tinubu paid $20million (N3billion) out of public treasury to Ibukun Fakeye to commence the project in late 2006. Fashola has since released additional funding for this project, which is not owned by the state government.

The 14-hectare Parkview Ikoyi Estate foreshore land reclaimed by Lagos State Government is now owned by Bola Tinubu.

While in office, he allocated to himself the former Strabag yard beside the Lagos State Secretariat at Alausa, Ikeja. The property is now being developed into a shopping mall as big as the Palms in Lekki. This is public property brazenly stolen and now owned by Tinubu, aided by Fashola.

The choice property at Lekki-Epe road on which he built and owns the multi-billion Naira Oriental Hotel and the extension of multi-storey car park beside it. Also, the multi-level recreation centre by Mobil in Oniru Estate on Lekki-Epe road jointly owned with ARM and Tunji Olowolafe. All these assets valued at over N25billion were obtained without paying a kobo to the Lagos State Government.

Tinubu and Fashola sold the following prime Lagos properties to their personal friend and front – Prince Dipo Eludoyin at very ridiculous prices:

• The 3.8-hectare of land of Lagos State Fisheries office in VI (beside the Institute of Oceanography) valued at N3billion.

• The fishery landing jetty at Badore (where the Ilubirin fishermen were to be relocated) valued at N500million

• The entire Ogudu foreshore scheme initially earmarked for a low-cost housing scheme valued at N5billion

• The Ilubinrin housing estate (which used to house Lagos state civil servants and judges up till 2007) valued at N2.5billion.

• The former Julius Berger yard at Oko Orisan, Epe valued at N450million.
Tinubu raised a loan of N4.7billion on Eko Akete project for which nothing was achieved before he turned around to sell the property to his Chagouri friends of Chagouri & Chagouri and Hitech Construction Ltd at a ridiculously low price at the expense of the taxpayers of Lagos.

Tinubu applied to personally purchase the Federal Secretariat building while in office. When he couldn’t get to buy it, he directed Fashola to stop the eventual owner of the complex to develop it. The complex is presently wasting away courtesy of the Lagos State Government.

It took several months of horse trading and underhand payments before Fashola could allow the new owners of 1004 flats to redevelop the complex. Several other buyers of Federal Government properties and developers of properties in Ikoyi, Victoria Island and Government Reservation Area Ikeja were forced to succumb to the outrageous demands of Tinubu, Fashola, Commissioner Abosede and other officials of the Lagos State Physical Planning Ministry and were made to pay ridiculous amounts to private accounts before their redevelopments were approved. Those who refused or were unable to pay could not develop their properties. This is a major economic strangulation of property developers and has contributed largely to the skyrocketing rent in Ikoyi, VI and Lekki axis.

Tinubu converted all the plots of land where Lagos Polytechnic was located at Ikosi near the old toll gate. He chased away the Polytechnic in 2006 and went ahead to locate the choice plots to himself, his cronies and political associates. The headquarters of Television Continental (TVC), which is owned by him, is located there. He deprived the youths of Lagos of decent education because of his greed.

Tinubu solely sold the prime land on Aboyade Cole, Victoria Island which was recovered from some allotees, to UACN Properties Plc. The amount of proceeds was shrouded in secrecy.

Eludoyin, fronting for Tinubu, built the estate directly opposite Goshen Beach Estate in Lekki area.

Tinubu’s wife, Remi Tinubu, built the massive New Era Foundation youth camp at the junction of Eleko, off the Lekki-Epe express road, with Lagos State funds and has now converted it to personal use.

Tinubu owns the Fara Park Estate and the Beach Wood Estate both in Lekki.

The Critical Care unit at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) in Ikeja, built and equipped with state funds, is now owned personally by Tinubu. He has put one Dr. Sikiru Tinubu, (a supposed cousin of his) to run the outfit. It is run as a private unit and the proceeds are pocketed by the duo. The unit charges its users exorbitantly and most Lagosians can hardly afford to pay its high charges. Much of the revenue is derived from fees paid by the State Government for patients referred there by its General Hospitals.

Several prominent Nigerians in the judiciary, police, INEC, and other sensitive agencies have obtained prime land from former Governor Tinubu and incumbent Governor Fashola over the years without paying a kobo. Many of them had turned around to sell the land to third parties at substantial profit. Many top officials in the police, INEC and the judiciary who participated in the 2003 and 2007 elections and tribunals in states where Tinubu has interest were compromised with parcels of free prime Lagos land and cash. If the Lagos State Land’s Bureau could publish the names and identities of beneficiaries of land allotees from 2000 to date, the scandal that will result is better imagined. Gbenga Ashafa, now a Senator, and Mrs. Awofisayo were the conduits through which these acts were being perpetrated. Both were also personally involved in various dubious land transactions on their own.

Prime land and properties have been used to pay off public officials who are personally close to Tinubu and Fashola for “jobs well done” or for being privy to sensitive information, notably:

(a) Dele Alake, former Commissioner for Information and Strategy, was sold a whole house on Alexander Road, Ikoyi where he lived as official quarters at a give-away price.

(b) Rauf Aregbesola, Osun State Governor, who was a former Commissioner in Lagos as well as Muiz Banire, also a former commissioner, got detached houses at Ladoke Akintola Street, GRA Ikeja for their “good job” while serving under Tinubu.

(c) Yemi Cardoso and Wale Edun, both former commissioners, were sold houses on Iru Close, and another location in old Ikoyi at give-away prices by Tinubu.

BREAKING NEWS: Exclusive Secret Conversation Of A Boko Haram Detainee Mustapha Kolo Exposing Boko Haram.

June 30, 2014 by Eagle

Exclusive Secret Conversation of Mustapha Kolo, exposing
Boko Haram Activities Obtained. The suspect currently
being detained in Abuja for allegedly being a member of
Boko Haram confessed to an existing relationship between
the insurgents and Borno state Governor, Kashim
Shettima. Mustapha Kolo, who was arrested along with
others in Maiduguri confessed that the Governor has been
giving them money and has been meeting with their
leaders but is now trying to deny them.
It will be recalled that a terrorist was once arrested in the
Borno state Government Lodge.
Below is the transcript of the recording:-
Good evening how are you?
Lafiya
I greet you in English but you replied in Hausa. Don’t you
understand English?
I can understand English and I speak it well well.
I want to be your friend since we are going to stay
together here
I don’t want to be friend of stranger. You meet many of us
in that place we are before now they bring you here so you
can force me to reveal secret for you ko? Why they change
my cell and give me total stranger only two of us here?
Before we are twelve in that place now they bring me here
for what?
My name is Ahmed, I was arrested yesterday in Lokoja for
carrying guns. What is your own name and what brought
you to this place?
They get my name in their book so you can check. They
can tell you the offence that bring me here, because I did
not catch myself to come here. I am not prepare to
discuss any matter with you, because you are stranger
and I know you people just want to use me and dump me
like Kabiru and other people
Are you talking about Kabiru Sokoto?
You know about the Kabiru I am talking? I don’t know
whether you people have kill him ma sef. Me I know say I
will never release from here, but I never mind. I am here
because of Allah Subana Wata Allah and I am even
prepared to die to make the world Muslim, everybody. I
don’t know anything I can tell you more because if I talk
more they can kill me because it is offence to tell secret
things about our people, that is why since I come here
many days now I have refused to talk. Do you want them
to kill me? As you people want to kill me, if I talk and I go
out they will follow me to kill me is it what you want? So I
have no matter with you please.
I am not part of them. They also brought me here like you
for an offence. I have powerful person who is going to get
me out. I will help you when I go out and I will not reveal
your identity but you have to tell me the truth if you want
me to help you out. So tell me your name and why they
brought you here because the powerful person will want to
know.
My Name is Mustapha, I am a student at Ramat
Polytechnic Maiduguri, before I join to work for Allah. My
friend introduce me to Markas and then we use to go
forwazi in different places. We listen to Mallam and he
teach us many things. Then we start to fight with
Government because the police they kill us. Governor SAS
he help police to kill us so we ma we kill his people so the
offence that I am brought here is offcence of killing people
in Jihad.
Did Mallam teach you how to kill with guns besides the
preachings?
Different people teach us guns, but Mallam is big man he
only carry small gun like pistol. But when he preach he
can shoot gun as warning to kafiri to change. Everybody
who is listening to Mallam can be able to tell how he is
preaching good for everybody to be muslim but other
people they do not agree, that is why he is having problem
with government and police and army and they have kill
him. We want to also kill police and army like they have
kill mallam and many people.
How did you come here?
It is some useless people that they tell police and army
where we are hiding in one place and they come and shoot
us and they catch some of us. Then they put us in car and
drive us in the night to this place. They cover our eyes
with cloth and they tie our legs also, later they tell us this
is Abuja. They have remove us from Maiduguri to this
place so that we can tell them something about out
people, but we have not talk to them. They just give us
food every day and then they ask you if you can be able to
say something but No, we are not ready to tell them
anythings. Even some of them tell me they are muslim but
I know they are not good muslimand so I never tell them
anything secret that I know, even you now I know you are
telling lie that you will help me, you cannot be able to help
me.
Are you Boko Haram?
You don’t know what is Boko Haram that is why you say
somebody is Boko Haram. Me I am not Boko Haram. How
if I am Boko haram I go to school in Mafoni and I go to
Ramat? I am doing the work of Allah.
Then why did you kill and burn schools?
We kill everybody who kill our people. We kill anybody
who he refuse to become Muslim. Even muslims who is
not good we kill them. But they have kill us many of us,
many of the people they kill they have go to aljannah, but
any who die kafir he will go to jihannama.
When you are doing the work of Allah, how much were you
being paid?
How can somebody pay to do work of Allah? They give us
money when somebody send us money to help in the work
of Allah. But when there is no money we manage. Like the
time they follow many of us we don’t have money so we
get smallsmall things from small small things from people
who want to help us.
But they say some people pay you to kill on their behalf.
Who were those paying you money to kill others?
Many people give us money for different different reason.
Many big people they give us money so that we will not
kill them, some people they give our big ogasmoney, they
say we should kill so so and so. Me I can tell you that I
know many big people in Maiduguri even in Abuja they
used to send money for us. During the time of politics
many people they use our name to kill other people. Some
of them say they are doing work of Allah also but that is
not true, they are doing politics. They are the one that give
us name boko haram, but our true name is Jama’atul
Sunnahlida awatti wal jihad.
Is it true that Government was giving you money in
Maduguri?
The former Governor Ali Sheriff he did not give us money,
only to his ECOMOG people who they are doing politicis
together with them. All the ECOMOG they are not good
muslim so we kill some of them. Their own they are
politics, our own we are religion of islam, so we and
ECOMOG who is SAS giving money they are not our
people. So government can give ECOMOG money but they
not give us that time when SAS is Governor that is why we
are angry with Governor SAS.
Governor Kashim Shettima before he is a good man but
now he is not give money again to us. When he is
commissioner, he can give us plenty of money. He give us
money when we kill Fanami Gubio, so he can be Governor
but he is not completed his payment and even the other
money we are following him he no give us again. When he
become Governor he continue to give us money although
he abuse us in television and he give us money again then
no problem, but he is not giving money after sometime.
This Governor kashim he is from Maiduguri, but SAS is
Ngala andKashim he know very well what cause the
problem and the people doing the work. Even the person
he put for JTF he is his brother and he was do this work
we are doing before.
Are you saying Governor Kashim has been giving you
money to kill people?
Yes he give us money to do plenty things, like I have say
it. He give money to killFanami Gubio, he give us money
we shoot Awana Ngala and many of his enemy we have
kill them. That is why we are not happy because he
cannot give us the remaining money as he promise.
So now if they bring Governor here can you say it in his
presence that he has been giving you money for your
activities?
If he will not kill me after I can say it, but as Governor he
have power to tell police to kill me. That is why am afraid
of going out after I talk, but if you put GovernorKashim
Shettima I can able to tell him how he has give us money
since he iscommissioner up to time of Governor he still
give us money. He can meeting with us and give us plenty
money before but now he is afraid of people will know it,
but he cannot deny of knowing me or Amir Abacha or
Musa killer. We have go to Lagos house many times he
give us money. There are many people they give us
money, kadiri he give us money, bakura he give us money,
even they give us money to kill commissioner two of them,
but Goni was able to kill one and they catch him and they
kill him, the other one he ran away. That one is not
commissioner he is doctor.
Besides the Goveror, who else has been giving you
money?
The other people who they give money I have tell you, I
can remember Ya Zanna, he is doing Hajj by road and he
help many people. He give us some time before he refuse
to come to Maiduguri. When many people they leave
Maiduguri, we did not see money again but some they are
giving only to big oga in our people like AmirGambo, he
can get money from big people, like Amir Abacha he can
collect money from Governor be he cannot give us only for
him, that is why he ran away and left us.
Can you tell me more on some of these people you say are
ogas?
It is big offence to talk about your oga to stranger, I have
tell you about Governor and government how they help us
but my ogas it is wrong to tell you because they can catch
them, they cannot catch Governor because he is oga
kwatatata and everybody must obey him.
How many of you are doing this work of Allah in
Maiduguri?
We are more than the people of Maidugur. We plenty in
Number, Many people they run away when Governor give
them money. Many they are in the camp and many we are
still in Maiduguri. Some of us they are from Yobe state but
we are all doing one work for the Jihad of Allah. Some
people sef they are doing government work but they are
doing our work under under. Some they have travel to
Abuja, to Lagos and many of our people they travel to
Cotonou. I have once go to Cotonu but my friend Jibrin he
said we can come home to Maiduguri, nothing can happen
to us, now see what he has cause for us, even Jibrin they
kill him when they come to catch us in Maiduguri.
If I help you to get out will you stop killing people?
I just agree to talk to you but I know you cannot be able to
help me. But if I go out I can stop killing people but I will
not stop doing work of Allah because as muslimmy life
depend on the work which I can do for Aljannah. Then
again all my people they have died and I cannot get
anywhere I can stay because they will catch me. Army
people they are many in Maiduguri because of state
emergency is happening there now even I don’t know the
situation but I am feeling it in my body that they have
spoil the work for us.

EKITI ELECTIONS: WHY FAYEMI LOST AND THE LESSON FOR APC- Bayo Adeyinka

Most APC die-hard supporters could not believe there
would be an upset. But the handwriting became clearer on
the wall when it was obvious that Bimbo Daramola, Yemi
Adaramodu, Adewale Omirin, the Deputy Governor Prof
Mrs Adelabu and former Governor Niyi Adebayo all lost
their wards/booths. From results, out of the 12 wards in
Oye Local Government, Governor Kayode Fayemi's Local
Government, APC won only 2 wards while PDP cleared the
rest. Fayose won in all the Local Governments in Ekiti
State, scoring over 203,090 votes to Fayemi's 120,433.
The defeat was total and absolute.
It was one defeat that leaves your jaws open and makes
you wonder what went wrong. Fortunately or
unfortunately, depending on the side you are, the election
was free and fair. Though it took place under a massive
security arrangement, there was no report of
disenfranchisement whatsoever. The turnout was massive
and it was reported that some polling booths witnessed
close to 80% turnout of registered voters. People travelled
from Lagos and other states just to vote in Ekiti. I
personally know people who went to their Ekiti home state
just to register their feelings with their votes. After voting,
people stayed and ensured the votes were counted. One
account had it that an old woman asked a citizen
journalist to write Fayose's results on her palm.
Some people attributed Peter Ayodele Fayose's victory to
the sharing of rice and other inducements but this is
begging the question because APC also shared rice and
even doled out money. Those who were on ground
confirmed this and most of them collected from both
parties. Consequently, it was not the victory of 'raw rice'
over 'cooked rice'. So what caused the massive rejection
of APC and consequently Governor Kayode Fayemi at the
polls in spite of the well noted above average performance
of his government? Why would the most educated
homogenous group in Yoruba land rebel elect Ayo Fayose,
someone supposedly 'under-educated' by their high
educational standards and reject Kayode Fayemi, a PhD
holder and incumbent for four years? What lessons are
there for APC for the coming elections?
1. PEOPLE DO NOT CARE HOW MUCH YOU KNOW UNTIL
THEY KNOW HOW MUCH YOU CARE
True, Governor Fayemi built roads and embarked on urban
renewal. His footprints were all over the State. However,
he was disconnected from the masses. There was a
general perception that his government was elitist and he
didn't do anything to correct that impression. He did not
have the common touch. He was building for the people
but the people did not feel any connection with him. His
style brought back a feeling of nostalgia about Fayose's
days to the people. Fayose could speak their language.
Fayose also made a mountain about living among the
people. In all the years he was away from office, he never
left Ekiti. He did not become a Lagos or Abuja politician
and the people noted it. That was why there was a chant
of 'Ghana Must Go' a few days to the election- referring to
where Governor Fayemi resided at a point in time. Did
Fayemi engage in town hall sessions across Ekiti
constantly through his tenure? If he did, were they
effective? Our politics in the South West still remains
rudimentary and that is why any touch of populism will
carry the day.
2. ALL POLITICS IS LOCAL AND WHEN YOU FORGET THIS
YOU GET PUNISHED FOR IT
Governor Fayemi practically lived and campaigned on
social media. He ran a very effective facebook and twitter
campaign. You can never fault him for taking advantage of
technology. However, twitter does not vote and most
facebook activists don't come out to vote. When Governor
Fayemi assembled bloggers from Lagos and brought them
to Ekiti to assess his performance, I knew he was
embarking on a fruitless exercise. The bloggers could only
influence the opinion of those who read them and how
many people actually read them in Isan, Ijan, Erio-Ekiti,
Iworoko and other less-city towns?
3. WHEN YOU REFUSE TO MAKE FRIENDS OF A FORMER
ADVERSARY, HE HURTS YOU MORE THAN EVER BEFORE
This election was APC's to lose. Actually, it should have
been a walkover for Governor Fayemi if they had kept
Fayose in their corner of the party. Fayose was a major
contributor to Fayemi's victory at the last polls. I
remember Fayemi published an advertorial thanking
Fayose for his efforts. When Fayose's father died, it was
widely acknowledged that he carried a signage with the
note 'Vote For Fayemi'. When Fayose celebrated his
birthday, the who's who in the then ACN were present and
they poured accolades on him. However, he claimed there
was an understanding that he will be given a senatorial
slot as compensation. This was never honored and he
decamped to the Labour Party where he was trounced. He
brought in this bruised ego into the political field. When a
man's ego suffers, other things bear the consequences.
What would it take to cede a slot to 'Oshoko' and let him
retire at the Senate? Even the Holy Writ asked us to
quickly make friends of our adversaries lest they put us in
gaol. APC is now in gaol, politically.
4. THE REJECTION OF THE OVER BEARING INFLUENCE OF
BOLA TINUBU
Many people that I know don't see Ayo Fayose as a
credible candidate yet they voted for him. They explained
that their vote for Fayose was actually a rejection of the
Bourdillon overlords. Many in Ekiti e have not forgotten
how Hon Oyetunde Ojo, a son-in-law of Bola Tinubu
became a member of the House of Representatives. This
same Hon Ojo is married to Tinubu's daughter who is now
the Iyaloja of Lagos. Tinubu's wife is also a Senator of the
Federal Republic. Fayose made some comedy out of this
when he announced that he will 'bring the government
back from Bourdillon to Ekiti'. Tinubu needs to watch it.
His drum is sounding too loud and this election was to
burst his bubble, just like Ondo and Anambra people just
did. His latest pronouncement to the effect that only three
kings in Yorubaland were reliable and supported the
aspirations of June 12 further alienated him from the
traditional rulership and essentially the people. Fayemi's
defeat was a collateral damage of sorts. Widely
acknowledged as a good and responsible leader, he caved
in due to the wrong perception of his godfather.
5. THE BANDWAGON EFFECT IN ONDO STATE
Due to the cultural affinity shared between Ondo and Ekiti
States, there would always be a meeting point. When
Governor Mimiko of Ondo State asserted himself and won
the Ondo State Gubernatorial election, I knew it was just a
matter of time before Ekiti followed suit. A very proud
group of people don't want to be vassals. And vassals
they think they are especially when there is the perception
that all key decisions are taken in Lagos. So it was
waiting to happen.
6. POLICIES THAT DO NOT CONNECT WITH THE PEOPLE
Such as the Teachers Needs Development Assessment
Tests, ban on okada riders without preferring an
alternative solution, removal or demolition of shops to
give way for urban renewal without immediate adequate
compensation, demolition of 'slums' without providing
alternative homes and similar policies. Once the livelihood
of people are threatened, they will find a way to revolt.
What happened in Ekiti was a revolt of peasants- a revolt
of sorts. Not even the cooperation of all the kings in Ekiti
land with APC could stop it. Policies must 'wear' a human
face. Opinions must be polled and listened to in some
cases. This is not to say that decisions should not be
carried out to the benefit of people, even if they are
difficult. However, the people must be engaged and the
benefits explained rigorously. Having policy somersaults
at the 11th hour on election eve opens you to opprobrium.
7. THE LACK OF CLEAR DISTINCTION BETWEEN APC AND
OTHER PARTIES
Before now, it was very popular to tout the achievements
of the 'poster boy' of APC, Babatunde Raji Fashola as
proof that the APC was different and will offer a better
platform for the people. That argument won over people in
droves. But no more. Ekiti people also saw the
achievements of Olusegun Mimiko during his first term
under the Labour Party and realized it was not just about
the party alone. Political parties as we know them in
Nigeria have no clear cut ideologies. People seem to be
wiser now and they are ready to consider candidates
irrespective of the platforms presenting them.
APC needs to re-strategize if the same fate will not befall
them in Oyo, Ogun and Edo States. I personally think
Ogbeni Aregbesola is on ground in Osun State and will be
able to retain the State for APC except a serious misstep
occurs before the election. Oyo, Ogun and Edo are three
swing states that may be lost to the opposition anytime
soon. A word is enough- if they are wise.
